I once asked Dylan where the red train car was and he extrapolated and now calls the red one the train car and the green one the “train bus”. 🤔

VS Code, Atom, and Sublime Text are both totally programmable. I mean you don’t get to experience the joy that is Emacs Lisp, but they are just as programmable as emacs ever was.

Really glad I decided to visit Brussels. Was expecting it to be full of boring bureaucracy and government people. Found troll culture instead (the fun kind), plus good beer. A++++ would visit again.

I think it depends on how efficient one can be with the given interfaces. Keystroke-based editors have the advantage that touch typists at least don’t need the cognitive engagement that GUIs require just to interact (pointers require a feedback loop)

As a data point from working with lots of new grads and junior engineers over the last 4 years, vi and Emacs are definitely in the minority. VS Code, Atom, Sublime, PyCharm, lots of editor diversity. I weep at the loss of scriptability…but maybe they still have that? Not sure.
