Puts on fresh N95 to go into hospital to take food to new mom and father. On entry “let’s have you put on a fresh mask”, gets handed a crappy bad fitting surgical mask. OK I get policy, but, really?

Is Michigan OK? Its leading Republican governor candidate just got arrested for attacking the US Capitol building in January 2001. There was also the armed storming of the Michigan capitol in April 2020 and the plot to hold the Michigan governor hostage in October 2020…

Video codecs are basically a quirky instruction set. It would by amusing to consider what could be done by explicitly coding for it — make a 64k demo contest for one minute long videos. You could do a lot with explicit, non-displayed reference frames and aligning things well.

Do any programs get ‘cursor movement within rich text editing’ right? The correct behavior is for entry into and out of each level of nested markup to be an independent stop, so you have the freedom to insert text anywhere without having to insert and delete random characters.

You’d think so, and we used to do that, but people found it confusing if the cursor didn’t move (such as next to bold). We ended up keeping the extra stops only where they are visually different, and made sure that is especially the case for hyperlinks.
