Congratulations to the Threads team on launching fediverse follows! Big step for the open social web.
Among other things, this means that you can now bridge your Threads account into Bluesky by following @bsky.brid.gy, and your Bluesky account into Threads by following @ap.brid.gy. Exciting!
Are you sure that Bluesky —> threads works?
I’ve seen some people on here & Threads both say they can’t get their Bluesky accounts working on Threads yet (although I can’t try since fediverse sharing isn’t in the eu yet 😭)
You can’t make Threads look up arbitrary fediverse accounts yet, afaik they need to have previously interacted with a Threads account. Threads may relax that eventually.
Apart from that it seems to work, eg the Bluesky account I linked above is visible in Threads: http://www.threads.net/fediverse_pr...
You know what’s funny. When I tap the handle, it shows me a pop-up to open in threads and then its just my home feed on the app 🥲
deep links are hard, let’s go shopping
It works, it’s just not perfect, which is a Threads thing. For example, there’s a delay on Threads-side pushing Threads post to ActivityPub, and they also have a delay accepting content from ActivityPub.
In the end, some posts show up, some not. Here’s my Bsky account on Threads.
So far it only works with Android, iOS should be coming soon.

@snarfed.org I got exited, clicked the link, then realizing that I’m in the EU and Threads haven’t launched anything Fediverse in the EU
BRB, about to create a Bluesky Threadception up in here…
Is there a set of steps I can give to my Threads friends to make it so I can follow them from atproto? (http://sngpl.ma/t5_S4)
I think they just have to enable fediverse sharing, help.instagram.com/179980294969… , and then follow http://www.threads.net/fediverse_pr... with their Threads account.
Threads is still working out a lot of kinks and UI rough edges though, I’m far from an expert in how their stuff works.
@snarfed.org I followed @bsky.brid.gy from my Threads account. It still says “Requested” in Threads, and my Threads profile isn’t appearing: https://fed.brid.gy/ap/@jaysit@threads.net
Any advice? Thanks!
@snarfed.org@fed.brid.gy @bsky@fed.brid.gy @ap@fed.brid.gy Get your proprietary garbage out of here pls, there’s no positive gains for the “open” social web by inviting predator corporations trying to undermine it at every chance they get.
