sad that dropbox and google drive didn’t work out. i have to admit, though, i glazed as soon as i read “All we need is a way to discover a user’s CouchDB instance.”
how about amazon’s cloud drive thing? most actual users will have an amazon account. or microsoft skydrive?
Oh that’s too funny, I woke up thinking the same thing (or at least I came to the same conclusion after reading about how to configure CouchDB for OAuth access). So wishy-washy!
I think I could probably get quite far with just LIST and GET, provided the micropub & webmention mechanisms tell the site generator which page has changed. Then I could hopefully support a couple different backends like Dropbox, Drive, remoteStorage, etc. I really really like this “bring your own storage” idea. I want to host a free service, but I don’t want to be responsible for holding on to anyone else’s data for the rest of my life :P
Seriously looking for an excuse to play with Couch/Hoodie though. Replicating a database to the browser or even a phone sounds like it’d makes offline apps super fun to work on.
