webmentions in mastodon would be great! https://fed.brid.gy/ also federates with other systems besides mastodon, and didn’t require the mastodon development team to agree to implement them, make time to actually do it, etc. i’m still all for it though!

  1. Ryan, I see your reply here on your site, and I can see your reply threaded into the stream via the URL https://social.literati.org/users/seanl/statuses/98886276350972431, but I’m not seeing it in that same thread from within my mastodon.social account.

I’ve just started playing with fed.brid.gy to get it working with my site and thought I’d gotten all the pieces, but it doesn’t seem to be working at the moment. I’ll tinker later more later this evening hopefully, but thought I’d mention what looks like missing data above.

  2. thanks for trying bridgy fed, chris! you’re right, mastodon post propagation between instances has historically been inconsistent and incomplete, and evidently continues to be. i don’t have much (any) control over that after i send a response to a mastodon instance. activitypub may give me a few more hints to use than ostatus, which i’ll look into, but i’m not holding my breath. :/
