When did we all start waving with two hands instead of one?
The sociology behind these kinds of shifts fascinates me. Did it start in a specific community or region? Some piece of media? A celebrity? Was it cultural? Who knows!

In which context? Two-handed waving emerged as a sign of applause in muted video conferences in my bubble. I haven’t seen it in meatspace yet.
Contex is a general greeting or goodbye in general (western) social situations, starting many years ago. Much broader than visual applause on video calls, which is a very narrow niche. Maybe it emerged in pop culture, and/or younger generations? weirdthoughtsihave.com/how-many-hands…
@snarfed Could it have been “Phoebe” from Friends?
Oh wow, interesting, maybe!
