Ugh, yeah, AP mention interop is the worst. I've sunk dozens of hours into debugging it and trying to reverse engineer the incantations that Mastodon etc need. It's come a long way, but it's still not perfect.
@Qazm interestingly, comparing Mastodon's Mention tag in your post to the HTML link in content, they don't match on either href or name/text.
Looking back, it feels like Mastodon's behavior and expectations here have changed over time. I can try switching our tag name to full @-@, but beyond that, I doubt I'll spend much more time on this eg trying to match Mastodon's HTML.
