I’ve been a daily coffee drinker for decades, and I’m taking a break for a month right now. No real reason, just trying it.

Halfway through, not much to report. One mild headache early on. No noticeable difference in energy. (I’m pretty insensitive to caffeine.)

I definitely still miss it though!

  1. I did this for a while off and on. I found that it made my sleep better when I was off coffee among other positive effects. But I also found being on coffee just as positive.

I tried substitutes while off. There are no substitutes.

The best is when you start drinking coffee again. A brown wedding I suppose?

  2. @snarfed.org I’ve done this too. I now start my mornings with 2 hours of work before coffee. Love the taste and ritual. But the caffeine doesn’t seem to matter much to me.

  3. I also tried this a while back, but came back to it for similar reasons. I just love coffee! The only rule I (try to) follow is: No coffee after noon.

  4. @snarfed.org I had to quit caffeine cold turkey years ago. From. 6-8 double espressos a day to nada. No cola, no tea, no chocolate. It was a rough month. The abstinence syndrome is real.
